This was my first painting after a hiatus of several years. The photo was taken at a vintage photo shoot. I initially drew a pencil portrait from this image. I then experimented by transferring a photocopy of my pencil portrait on this canvas by painting the photocopy and canvas with acrylic, sandwiching the two together, allowing the paint to dry and then rubbing away the paper to reveal the transferred ink from the photocopy. I then worked on top of this in ink, before deciding to paint over the image in oils. This gives this piece an interesting textural quality.
